A recent weekend working “bee” has transformed a much loved but rather overgrown garden into a potential haven for bees. Our garden at the rear of Kew Rotary Club’s Fair-Trade shop has had a bee friendly make-over.

Twenty volunteers from GlaxoSmithKline, organised by Jennie Gale and ably assisted by Kew Rotarian Colleen Orr, spent the day digging, weeding and potting. The garden is now tidy and organised, with a large area cleared and fertilised ready for planting with bee attracting flowers, and herbs that can be sold in the shop. Along with regular volunteers, Jennie already grows vegetables which are donated to charity.

Once the planting is complete, the garden will be a beautiful and productive home for bees and other pollinators!
